And so now we come to another chapter. The transition out of FC Dallas and back into the legal world began last September. About the same time, Janice and I started on the road to parenthood. What an amazing trek it has been!

Recently we had the baby showers for our baby we expect in August. It was a wonderful weekend of friends and family and more gifts than we deserve. Facebook has some newer pictures of Janice as she is moving closer and closer to being ready to have our baby! And thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences, advice and encouragement.

Changes Coming

For a variety of reasons, I’ve made some small changes to some of my public persona. I have changed my Facebook and Twitter images, as well as my Twitter id (from drumrboy93 to @KevinDLindstrom). For those who remember Big Soccer, the same change is in the works there.

Why the change? With fatherhood right around the corner, and the recent advancement of my referee efforts, it seems now is a good time to transition out of some of the “fanatic supporter” aspects into more of a fan of the game. In some ways, it is a little bittersweet as I will always want to be standing and cheering, and for the near future, the priority will be raising our baby boy.

But only a little – in so many ways, it is amazingly exciting to help shape a whole new person. Obviously, we will want him to love soccer and the US (and music, etc.), but more than anything, we want him to be his own man with integrity.

And being able to be there for Janice as we go through this – that has been an absolutely wonderful experience. Learning all that is involved in motherhood has been quite an education, to say the least, and Janice has done an incredible job of taking care of herself and our growing child. I simply can’t say enough about how incredible this all is, and how much respect I have for women who have had the courage and ability to tackle all that is involved in pregnancy.

The Law Firm

For the last nine months, I have been operating my two-person law firm on a very person-to-person basis, in part to be available to Janice and in part to make sure that I was able to handle each case carefully and appropriately. I had been doing the kind of law I am currently practicing (my main focus is estate planning) on a pro bono basis through a local non-profit for a few years, but that was with their internal support and processes. I was pretty sure that I could handle it on my own, but I didn’t want to go full force in reaching out to people about it until I was sure. After nine months, I am comfortable that I can handle whatever comes my way, so be on the lookout for an official website in the near future. (I do have to go through the State Bar Association approval process, so we will have to go through that process and see how long it takes.)
