I Went Into The Woods Because...

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived… I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life.” – Thoreau

After almost seven years and an amazing set of experiences and relationships, it is time for me to move onto the next phase of my life with my wonderful wife, Janice. As such, I have resigned from FC Dallas and am re-entering the practice of law.

I wanted to take a moment to thank to everyone who was a part of that journey, and have you know that nothing would make me happier than if you would please continue your support with FC Dallas with my full support. I can’t speak highly enough of them – they work tirelessly to make sports magic happen and have my utmost respect. I look forward to enjoying the team’s success as a fan once again!

I have seen many things in my years there. The new rival in Houston, incredible run of the team in 2010, the hard work and dedication of hundreds of individuals to bring fans to the games and ensure they have a great experience, leading to more and more success with each passing year. What I will cherish most about the game-day experience is the passion of the fans and the amazing efforts of the team and coaching staff to win for those fans. What I appreciate most about the daily activity is the continued dedication to building an idea of a soccer team into the physical and emotional reality that began in 1996, and has grown into what you see on display every match now.

I leave with full confidence that FC Dallas will continue that success to heights yet to be seen – the fulfillment of what began in 1996, was grown and developed through the various administrations up and through the current leadership. I am proud to say a part of my life contributed to that growth, with thanks to all who helped me in those efforts and those who took advantage of those efforts to be fans of FC Dallas.

To every fan who ever attended a match through my efforts – thank you for allowing me to help you enjoy the greatest sport in the world through FC Dallas.

To my friends - thank you for, in many instances, being a part of that great fan-base, and for your support in my endeavors for the team.

To the players and coaching staff, and those who support them - thank you for all the time and effort you put into being the living embodiment of FC Dallas, especially to those who do the things no one sees on game-day.

To every co-worker I have had the privilege to work along-side – thank you for putting up with my idiosyncrasies and messy desk, and helping me serve our fans. I will always appreciate and respect your efforts to make FC Dallas the best it can be. And to those who took part, thank you for enjoying the SuperClasico, with a special thanks to those who helped organize and lead it. I enjoyed every iteration of that wonderful tournament.

To all who supervised or managed me – thank you for your guidance, leadership and education, and for all your other efforts on behalf of the team. I leave better than I was when I arrived, due in no small part to your time and consideration, and I am amazed at the progress you engineered to date and look forward to your continued success.

So I can’t wait to see you all at the next FC Dallas event – Dallas ‘Til I Die!
